IBM Lexmark cartridges are among the easiest to refill, given the right tools and the appropriate ink. The printhead is on the Lexmark cartridge itself. Therefore when you remove the cartridge for refilling you can also easily clean the printhead. The Lexmark black cartridge uses a pigmented ink, the color cartridges use dye based inks.
With the black cartridge you simply inject the ink via the fill hole at the cartridge’s upper top. With color cartridges the instructions show you how easily to access the (3) ink fill holes behind the upper cartridge cover – yellow, cyan and magenta. Lexmark color cartridges use the sponge system to release the ink to the built-in printhead.
